I'm also a nerd.

Yep, I <3 math! I love computer programming and I love the show "Big Bang Theory" (I even understand many of the jokes!) I work in HR and also love theater.

Guess what? The nerd label isn't super obvious. Don't treat me like I am an idiot - until you have evidence that I am an idiot.

I know that 68% of the population has no clue where that percentage reference even comes from - however, there are times that you will meet people in the upper standard deviation of the population. Take a moment to figure out where the person falls before you talk down to them. Incidentally, 50% of you have a a better than average chance that the person  you are talking to - is actually smarter.

At the end of the day I want you to know.... If I say I restarted my modem - I freaking restarted my modem. Don't make me do it again.

Show me the money.

I dress like I don't care about myself or the world around me. The truth is I really don't care about what you think of me. There is a saying that it is none of my business what you think of me. I don't always remember that but when I get dressed in the morning and put on one of the three pairs of shoes I know and my clothes that is old and beginning to become weathered - i really don't care what you think.

My clothes don't necessarily mean what you think. I don't wear the latest fashions, have the most stylish pair of shoes, but that is not because I can't afford it. If I walk into a restaurant and you judge me by my clothes. You will be wrong. My husband and I are generous tippers. 20% is usually the low end unless service is really bad. I just choose to spend money on things other than clothes and shoes. But if you assume I am a crappy tipper, you will get much less than we would normally give and sadly, you will probably have no idea.

You label me incorrectly - your problem, not mine - but keep in mind your assumptions and judgments may impact more than you know.

Don't care what you think - I am a lesbian.

I am a lesbian. I have always been a lesbian, even when I was in denial. I will always be a lesbian. But I have a husband. This seems to confuse people and I am tired of explaining it. For the benefit of all, I will explain it here as best I can and I will do my best to use little words so everyone can understand.

My sexual orientation is owned by me. It is a part of me and how I see myself. My orientation is not based on what you think about me or what you think you see. Even my husband doesn't get to assign me a label or tell me I am straight.

Have you ever watched Dr. Who? You know how the Tardis is bigger on the inside?

Don't look at me and decide I am a straight women in a heterosexual relationship with a man. I am so much bigger on the inside.
